SURVEY SAYS…YOUR OPINION COUNTS!

Regional tourist agency to poll area visitors in first ever interactive response to measure traveler satisfaction

If you’re traveling throughout the historic Blackstone River Valley from September 1 – October 31, you are invited to voluntarily participate in an interactive survey being conducted by the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council (BVTC).

“As part of our mission to develop the Valley as a quality visitor destination, our agency is conducting for the first time a comprehensive online visitor survey to gauge how people feel about their travel destination experiences in our area and what improvements can be made in visitor satisfaction,” said BVTC President Dr. Robert D. Billington.

BVTC has commissioned Providence, RI based BizGrader.com, an interactive public opinion survey company, to conduct visitor input, research and analysis of what traveler concerns are and how BVTC can effectively address those needs.

“Visitors can participate in the survey two ways. Over the next two months, we will be handing out business cards at various travel destinations that will direct people to the BizGrader.com website to take the poll. Or, they can go directly to the website and fill out the information requested,” Dr. Billington said.

To ensure the diversity and accuracy of the survey responses, participants will be asked to submit an e-mail address that will be kept confidential and not used for any other research or marketing purpose.

As an added incentive, to get maximum participation, those who take the opinion survey will be automatically registered to win one $100 gift certificate that BVTC will give away at random to one survey participant.

As part of BVTC’s effort to continuously improve the visitor experience in Blackstone River Valley, the BizGrader.com survey will ask participants information on how they heard about the region, familiarity of the area as a travel destination, travel habits while visiting the area, signage, visitor assistance, heritage, cultural, recreational destinations and travel demographics among other details.

Also, there is room on the interactive survey for people to comment on what can be done in the region to better improve the quality and service of the total visitor experience.

Visitors may participate in the online survey at www.BizGrader.com (enter code blackstone if you end up on their home page).

Blackstone River Valley is recognized as the actual birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution and noted for its culture, history and recreational activities.

BVTC is the State of Rhode Island regional designated tourism development organization representing the communities of Burrillville, Central Falls, Cumberland, Glocester, Lincoln, North Smithfield, Pawtucket, Smithfield, and Woonsocket.

In 2006, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) awarded BVTC with the 2006 UNWTO Ulysses Award for Innovation in Tourism Destination. The award, presented for the first time, recognizes BVTC "for contributing to positive change with regards to community values in Rhode Island over the past 20 years."
