Slatersville – America’s First Village

Slatersville - America's First VillageThis feature length documentary by award-winning director and Slatersville native Christian de Rezendes will follow the story of America’s first mill village and its historic impact to the Blackstone River Valley and its two-century-long evolution through the Industrial Revolution – from the tales of Samuel and John Slater seeking land to expand their workforce in the early 1800s to the saving and restoration of the abandoned Slatersville Mill in the early 2000s. As the Industrial Revolution struggled with change, so has the nation’s first mill village. Our film will examine what life was like at the start of the 19th century through interviews with historians and scholars.
