    Winter has returned after a January thaw, but as we cupid pulls back his bow, can spring be far behind! Opportunities abound as we make the transition from winter to spring.


    Riverfront Planning Seeks Public Input

    Officials from the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor & the City of Central Falls, along with representatives from local businesses, are seeking ideas and suggestions for the development of the City’s Riverfront. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this meeting to offer their input to enhance this working proposal.

    Have a Ball at Mardi Gras 2006

    Presented by the Northern RI Council on the Arts, join in the celebration of Mardi Gras 2006! Beginning with a Children's event on Saturday, February 25 followed by the Queen's Coronation on Sunday, February 26 all leading up to Mardi Gras 2006 on March 4, 2006 with four locations featuring headlining bands, costume contests, and fine food.     Blaze a Trail - New Canoes on Display

    For your viewing pleasure and photo opportunity, the Blackstone Canoe Trail currently has six individually-painted canoes on display with more expected in the next few months. The most recent canoe is located at the Lincoln Shopping Center on Front Street in Lincoln, RI. If you would like information on how you can sponsor a canoe or participate in the canoe trail, contact Lesley at the the Tourism Council 401-724-2200.

    • Experience "Comedy of Historic Proportions" at Catch a Rising Star. The legendary New York Comedy Club is now open at Lincoln Park.
    • Enjoy a night of Jazz local as high school Jazz bands from Woonsocket, North Smithfield, Mt. St. Charles and Blackstone-Millville perform at Stadium Theatre this Thursday, February 16 at 7:00pm
    • Speaking of music Fat City Band brings their brand of rock boogie woogie to Jazz at Chans on Saturday, February 18
    • If viewing fine works of art is on your list, there are many galleries in the Blackstone Valley. Watercolor Magic is on exhibit at the Rhode Island Water Color Society at Slater Park in Pawtucket through March 9th.
    • It's not too early to begin celebrating the wearing of the green as the the annual St Patrick's Day Parade in Pawtucket kicks off the holiday on Saturday, March 4
