2005 Operation October Rain - Community Damage Assessment

The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council and the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, are working together to determine damage and costs caused by the October rains.

In order to determine the impacts the subsequent flooding has had on the Blackstone River Valley, we request that you complete this damage assessment form as it applies to you. We are seeking input from all sectors of the community, private and public, city, state and federal owned properties to determine the scope of the situation. It is important that the information you provide be as detailed as possible. This information will be used to determine extent of the damage and costs of rebuilding.

Questions have come from all levels of government seeking the extent and cost of the damage. Your immediate response to our request will not only help us understand what took place, but also how we can plan for sustainability via a Blackstone Valley Crisis Management Plan.

The data collected is only for information purposes to begin a planning process. All information may be made public as necessary.

Please circulate this on-line form and website to as wide an audience as possible. We are seeking information about the October rains using the RIEMA's term "Operation October Rain". This information is being collected from each of the 24 Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor Communities from Worcester, MA to Providence, RI.
