Help us decide who makes the best Dynamite for 2009!

Join us for fun, prizes, music, fresh farm produce at the Northern Rhode Island Council on the Arts' French Farmer's Market on the banks of the Blackstone River and for more fun than one city can handle at the 2009 Dynamite Cook-Off.

Bring your Dynamite and Calise's Bakery will provide the Dynamite rolls. Li’l General will again provide hats and aprons for the contestants and judges and the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council will provide the rest. Let the judges and public decide who has the best recipe! It's simple to participate. Sign-up today!

Awards and Prizes

  • 1st Place - Dynamite - $200 (Crowned Dynamite King or Queen) and participate in Woonsocket’s Autumnfest Parade

  • 2nd Place - Dynamite - $150

  • 3rd Place - Dynamite - $100

  • Peoples Choice Award – Is the award presented to the contestant who receives the most votes from family and friends. If you’re family and friends believe you have the best, let them show their support through their vote. Votes are $1.00 each.

Instructions and Information

  • Open to all cooks (professional or non-professional) at least 18 years old or be sponsored by an adult.

  • Contestants must be present for cook-off judging.

  • Contestants must arrive at River Island Park by 10:00 a.m.

  • Judging begins at 11:00 a.m.

  • Dynamite will be placed on authorized tables only.

  • Dynamite will be judged on taste and consistency.

  • Dynamite rolls, paper plates, napkins, tables, tablecloths, and chaffing dishes with Sterno provided by Cook-Off organizers.

  • No electricity is available for cooking.

  • Contestants must come with enough dynamite for judges to taste. Due to Health Department regulations, dynamite made at the cook-off cannot be offered to the general public.
